Project Overview
This project was bid during a period of material volatility when many budgets were unprepared for inflationary pricing. VanCon worked with the city to create alternative design engineering solutions, saving the city almost two million dollars and enabling the project to continue on schedule. VanCon excavated and poured a 37-AC-FT reservoir with underdrain to collect groundwater, installed 4,100 feet of wrapped perforated 6-inch and 220 feet of 12-inch HDPE piping to collect pond water and groundwater, and built a pump station with four 200 HP pumps. VanCon also installed 113,000 feet of 18-inch storm drain ADS, 1,700 feet of 24-inch ductile iron, 1,700 feet of 36-inch RCP, and 1,700 feet of 36-inch HDPE storm drainpipe into the road with a bore leading to the road tie-in. The project had extensive groundwater and dewatering was intensive throughout the excavation.

Santaquin PI Tank
Santaquin · Utah County · 2019
VanCon built a 3.26 MG open-top irrigation water tank with connection to pressurized irrigation pipes, an access road, a riprap-lined drainage path, and 200 linear feet of new pressured irrigation pipe. VanCon provided value engineering to replace a section of the ravine behind the tank with an underground pipe and two manholes, depositing excavated fill to create a level surface around the tank and enable vac truck access for future maintenance.

Springville Bartholomew Pond and Trail
Springville · Utah County · 2014
VanCon built a 34-acre-foot regulating pond with piping for a pressure irrigation system in Springville. The project included tree removal, landscaping, site grading for a city park, grading and paving of a park trail, rehabilitation of open channels, earth dams with filters and drains, seeding, erosion control, clay pond lining, construction of concrete water control structures, open trench excavation, asphalt road and trail repair, 4,800 linear feet of 26-inch HDPE pipe, 2,000 linear feet of 18 to 36-inch gravity-flow pipe, and 400 linear feet of 36-inch C-905 pipe. Remediation of disturbed land was successful.
